Yosif – A Teenage War Victim

Yosif Nasraldin is only 14 years old, yet he has seen so much war that one cannot imagine his life.

Bring Hope Humanitarian Foundation met Yosif May 29, 2017 in Baharka Camp in Erbil Province while there to distribute milk powder for the 1000 children living in this camp. Yosif was ecstatic to receive the milk powder for his 4-month-old sister.

He misses his life in Mosul. His family, mother, father and 6 siblings left Amraniye (Mosul Province) after ISIS attacked the town in mid-2014. Yosif misses his small town, his friends and a “normal” life. He liked his teachers there and misses his school. He is in the 5th class now, but feels unmotivated to study.

Yosif explains to Bring Hope staff how hard it is in the camp, especially the harsh, hot summer. Electricity is a big problem and the family lacks food. His father had one leg amputated from the war and his mom is a housewife, no one is working.

Bring Hope Humanitarian Foundation is the only organization to distribute milk powder here and this camp has been open since mid-2014. 16,000 cans of milk powder with a value of .3 million USD have been distributed by Bring Hope since it opened in 2014. The milk powder is donated by a Dutch organization, the brand is “Hollander”.

Everyone can bring hope

BHHF’s primary objective of humanitarian aid is to save lives, alleviate suffering, as well as to give the most vulnerable group (displaced children) hope for the future. BHHF has provided humanitarian aid with short-term and long-term help to homeless refugees, victims of natural disasters, wars and famines, and poor people.

Heartwarming news. Once a month.

Thank you!
