The Ravages of Leishmaniasis
The mountains of Iraqi Kurdistan house more than beautiful hills, they are also home to many men, women and children; refugees whose life is all but beautiful or even pleasant. Bring Hope Humanitarian Foundation (BHHF) strives to discover those refugees in dire need of help and often that path leads to people such as this child.
She is suffering from the life threatening, flesh eating disease called Leishmaniasis. This small, little Yezidi child suffers from very painful and disruptive skin lesions. She lives with her family in a tent on the mountain of Sinjar. Can you imagine how she suffers? Dozens, if not more, children and adults agonize every day with this or similar diseases.
There is a treatment, very expensive, so not widely available, to treat these conditions. It is a medication called ‘Impavido’ and Bring Hope obtains, distributes and provides this medication to those who desperately need this drug to eliminate their suffering.
Thanks to Bring Hope and their international partners; IHP (UK), HPIC (Canada), and HRIF (the Netherlands), this life-saving medication is accessible and provided to those who need it. (see bringhope.info for more)
