Staving Off Hunger
Rice is that one commodity that can be found in every area of the world where hunger is a significant problem, Iraq is no exception.
Bring Hope Humanitarian Foundation received 20,000 kg of fortified rice April 29, 2017 as a donation from the USA, enough to feed 10,000 families or 70,000 people.
BHHF warehouse was packed with rice and we had our hands full. On May 03, 2017, we distributed rice to Syrian refugees, Christian IDP’s from Mosul who are currently living in Erbil, to the Yezidi Kurds living in the Shangal Mountains, and to newly arrived refugees.
The war with ISIS has been extremely brutal as innocent civilians have been targeted and millions displaced. Vulnerable Syrian and Christian refugees living near Mosul received rice and were fraught with emotions as were the Yezidi people living in Shangal City, a very small community whose people suffer enormously.
BHHF has stored some rice for distribution to those people who continue arriving from the war-torn parts of Mosul and for anyone whose need is extreme.
