Soran City
Located on the Hamilton Road that connects Erbil to Iran through Hajomaran (a sub-district of Choman District), Soran City lies in Erbil Governorate and is the capital of Soran District. In the 1990’s this was a small Assyrian village, today it is one of the largest cities in Iraqi Kurdistan with approximately 125,000 people. 64% are refugees who have returned to Iraq within the last ten years. The city has 2 hospitals who have found it increasingly difficult to obtain needed medicine to treat their patients. With the economic crisis looming large in this area of the world, many NGO’s and other organizations are needed to step up to provide relief for a population in crisis.
On 19 July 2017 Bring Hope Humanitarian Foundation loads a semi-truck full of medicine bound for Soran City. Working with Soran Drug Store Bring Hope provides approximately $210,000 worth of medicine for use in their hospitals. To help Bring Hope continue their work, see bringhope.info
