Proper Health Care is a Priority

People that are trying to find safety and have lost the roof over their heads, wether it is due to war & violence or natural disasters, are at greater risk of injury and contracting diseases. They no longer have access to proper sanitation and often live in emergency shelters and other accommodations that are overcrowded. In many cases there is also a lack in health care and proper nutrition due to the emergency or the scale of the camps/accommodations. Outbreaks of various diseases therefore often happen.

Right now a few of the main health issues refugees face are diarrhoea, cholera, measles, malnutrition and acute respiratory infections like pneumonia. Some issues are easily preventable with vaccinations and proper hygiene, but access to these vaccines and hygiene products is nearly impossible for most people in these situations. There is a lack of vaccines and treatments. All of this is for a lot of people just the tip of the iceberg. These are issues that occurred after they had to flee from war and violence but just as in any other community people sometimes were already suffering from chronic diseases, cancer and other illnesses. It’s safe to say they’ve been dealt a bad hand and are now prone to more health problems than they already had.

We were able to supply Shahid Aso hospital with medicines, treatments and hygiene kits. Over 500 treatments were gifted. All of these medicines were donated from Canada and will help those who need it most and would otherwise not get the chance of proper treatment. We’re grateful for partners like our partner in Canada. Together we make it possible for people to get the (health) care they need and bring some hope.

Everyone can bring hope

BHHF’s primary objective of humanitarian aid is to save lives, alleviate suffering, as well as to give the most vulnerable group (displaced children) hope for the future. BHHF has provided humanitarian aid with short-term and long-term help to homeless refugees, victims of natural disasters, wars and famines, and poor people.
