Nada Ahmed Hassan

Nada lives in Bahrka Refugee Camp with her mom, dad and five siblings. Her family escaped from Mosul and made their way to Khazar Refugee Camp but they were moved to Bahrka Refugee Camp a few weeks later. They have lived in Bahrka Camp for three years, she is now 20 years old. Nada wants to return to Mosul so she can finish high school, she left school because of the war. She wants to get a good job, but says even though the war has ended in Mosul, she knows it is still dangerous, “…there are too many bombs and it is not easy to find them because the buildings are completely destroyed…there are still many snipers on the roofs which are shooting innocent people.” Nada knows it will take a lot of time to make Mosul safe again.

Nada also tells Bring Hope Humanitarian Foundation that her family used to receive more help from other aid organizations, but that help has diminished over time and she says they need more food and cleaner things. To help her family obtain the food and other items they need Nada works as a manager for the sewing center. She supervises the work of others who are sewing and helps them when they need it. Bring Hope Humanitarian Foundation relies on Nada to oversee the sewing initiative they established at Bahrka Refugee Camp. She is paid approximately $200 per month to do this job and to keep Bring Hope informed of needed supplies so work can be performed without interruption and spirits can continue to be lifted by the feeling of productivity and making a positive contribution to their families.

Nada spoke to us in person on 17 July 2017 at Bahrka Camp where she notes, “people feel happy because their life has a chance to change and that people still care about them.”

Everyone can bring hope

BHHF’s primary objective of humanitarian aid is to save lives, alleviate suffering, as well as to give the most vulnerable group (displaced children) hope for the future. BHHF has provided humanitarian aid with short-term and long-term help to homeless refugees, victims of natural disasters, wars and famines, and poor people.

Heartwarming news. Once a month.
