Four vulnerable families in Chilbarata Village

On December 05 th 2016 the Sewan protection team visited Chilbarata Village to do protection monitoring. During the visit Sewan discovered there were four families living together in an unfinished building, they are IDPs.

The Sewan team learned their very disturbing story:

There were four brothers and their families living in Siodiya Village close to Mosul. On August 8 th 2014 ISIS occupied the village and arrested the four brothers.

The women and children ran until they reached the secure area within Kurdistan. Three months later the women were informed that the four brothers had been killed by ISIS.

Currently, the four brother’s families are living together in very bad conditions and they have many needs. Combined there are 17 children (two with disabilities), four women and one grandmother.

On December 7 th Bring Hope Humanitarian Foundation delivered winter clothes for 22 persons, soap, shampoo, tooth brushes and paste, women and children’s shoes, dignity kits, blankets, a set of kitchen utensils and toys for the children. The Sewan organization distributed these items.

Latifa Subhan Kazaz, 33 years old and the mother of three children: “Many thanks to the Sewan staff, you are so kind. Our greetings to Bring Hope that they remember all of the difficulties IDPs are living with”

Afifa Bashar Jawad, 37 years old and the mother of six children: “I need clothes for my children, it’s very cold and we have no money to buy clothes for the children”

Latifa Subhan Kazaz and Afifa Bashar Jawad, “We are not from the area and we have no one to pay attention to our case”
