Filling a “BIG GAP”
Hevi is a national NGO that for the last 3 years has focused their efforts on serving IDP’s and refugees within their host communities (those communities that offered protection from the war and ISIS) by providing medical and health support in the Iraqi Kurdistan region. Following the liberation of Mosul from ISIS, local institutions require urgent and continuous help of all kinds, but none more so than in the medical and health field.
Hevi manages health facilities and primary health centers and clinics, including mobile clinics. The Director of Hevi states, “Hevi and Bring Hope [Humanitarian Foundation] are using coordination mechanisms” and further explains how these mechanisms assist Hevi in ensuring the 15 health centers within the community they serve, together with their community workers and 3 primary health centers receive additional and much needed medicines and medical equipment to treat the thousands of patients in desperate need. He states, “Bring Hope is filling a BIG GAP” and explains how the government is having a difficult time economically to provide for the thousands of displaced people.
