Escape Route

It was 10 pm, the night Hassan Juma Ahmed will never forget, when ISIS attacked the neighborhood where he lived in Mosul.Somehow he and his family escaped into the night and made theirway to the nearby area of Al Hamdaniya.

After a few days ISIS attacked Al Hamdaniya. ISIS took 32 men from the people they captured here, mostly Iraqi army and policemen. Hassan told Bring Hope Humanitarian Foundation that ISIS put a sign on the backs of these men, “they brought back only 4 men, the rest were killed.” Hassan continued, “ISIS took 18 of my neighbors too, until now no one knows what has happened to them.”

Hassan and his family again found some way to escape and made their way to Omer Kani Village and from there they continued running until finally, they entered Erbil, Iraqi Kurdistan.

Hassan, his wife and four children now live in Bahrka Refugee Camp near Erbil. At 37 years old Hassan worked in Mosul, now he is jobless. He longs to return to Mosul or at least he wants help finding work. Hassan pauses a long time and then he looks up and says, my son Falah is so talented in playing football.

Everyone can bring hope

BHHF’s primary objective of humanitarian aid is to save lives, alleviate suffering, as well as to give the most vulnerable group (displaced children) hope for the future. BHHF has provided humanitarian aid with short-term and long-term help to homeless refugees, victims of natural disasters, wars and famines, and poor people.

Heartwarming news. Once a month.
