Education is a Right.

Going to school, unfortunately, is a privilege that a lot of children in the world are missing out on. Either due to poverty or due to war and conflict or other reasons. Education is a right. A right that all girls and boys should be able to enjoy.

In the Debaga refugee Camp in Iraq live around 4500 children under the age of 17. There are three primary schools. A boys school, a girls school and a mixed school to accommodate all children between 4-11 years old. There is also a secondary school that has space for 300 children but that’s not nearly enough to accommodate all children from age 11 and older. This means that a lot of teenagers can’t go to school. Which means that they are missing out on a lot of important things.

School is much more than just learning math, reading and writing. It’s a place where you develop as a person. A place where you grow socially and intellectually. Where you are celebrated for being curious and asking questions. A place where you can find out who you want to be. And it’s the place where you make friends, play and communicate. It’s a place that shapes us.

The camp manager tries to give everyone access to school but it’s impossible due to the lack of funding and teachers. But he wont give up. He will fight for education and enough schools in his camp. We’re happy that he tries and fights for education. It means a lot for children like this girl who just got out of school…

We also try to help in any way we can. For example by providing school supplies to make studying easier.

Everyone can bring hope

BHHF’s primary objective of humanitarian aid is to save lives, alleviate suffering, as well as to give the most vulnerable group (displaced children) hope for the future. BHHF has provided humanitarian aid with short-term and long-term help to homeless refugees, victims of natural disasters, wars and famines, and poor people.

Heartwarming news. Once a month.
