School is out. These girls had morning classes and are now heading to their shelters. They had just received little fold up desks from us to bring home. These desks seem insignificant but are important and make learning a little bit easier.
Their shelters are so small that they often don’t have a place to do their homework properly and no desk to sit at. Having to do homework in a small space where everyone is in the same room, the little baby is crying, mom is cooking, dad is talking with mom… and no proper space to sit at. Not a great way to do your homework and it wont get the best results either.
Now they have a designated spot where they can sit at and take their space. And when they are done they fold them up and the room turns from homework space in a family room again. They are eager and make the best out of any situation.
Education is not something these girls take for granted. They want a better future. Become doctors, designers, nurses, teachers, engineers, hairdressers and changemakers. They want to change the world. They can change the world. They will change the world.
