After the Journey – to Escape
Tubazawa in Rezgari District is 40 km from Erbil. This distance affects their ability to receive aid for the people who reside here. The area has been a landing spot for refugees and IDP’s from different regions and sects. Nearly 800 families from Mosul, Sinjar, and Syria who escaped the grip of terrorists, and following a harrowing journey, were able to reach the borders of Kurdistan reside here. Among the displaced were many children and women in extremely poor condition because of the roads they took. The advocate to get them out forced the women to wear Khmer and black clothes while the children appeared in dirty and torn clothes.
In coordination with the organization Terre Des Hommes, Bring Hope provided handbags and clothes for women, men, and children. 800 packages of clothes were delivered to Topzawa, enough for 500 families, many of them orphans and children of Peshmerga who died because of war and conflict.
After the escape, after the journey of survival these families continue to feel abandoned by society. Living in very poor conditions and suffering from cold and hunger, children without the comfort of loving parents, we find small comfort in providing this humanitarian aid to make some days a little brighter, just a bit of fresh clothing makes a BIG difference. On 28 February 2018, at a child and youth friendly space, Avian the team leader at Terre Des Hommes told Bring Hope, “This humanitarian aid has brought hope to many families who have not been given the opportunity to experience new clothes for a long time and who suffer from lack of aid.” To be part of the solution, see bringhope.info.
