ADIDAS “runs” toward refugee aid
In a most valiant act of compassion, Adidas has “stepped” into the realm of organizations committed to aiding those people most in need; children. Refugee children in six different camps in Kurdistan were delighted to receive new Adidas shoes. A most generous donation of two shipping container loads from Adidas to child refugees in Kurdistan was arranged through the efforts of Humanitarian Resources International Foundation (HRIF) and Bring Hope. Following the distribution of these shoes and its positive impact, Adidas again proved their humanitarian spirit by committing an additional four loads to help sustain those children with no footwear.
Lack of shoes among refugee children in Kurdistan is one of the main challenges facing them during severe cold temperatures in the winter months. Additionally, Kurdistan can experience extreme heat during the summer months and while these children have no “real” homes, sidewalks or other sanitary conditions where they both live and play, shoes become a real necessity and part of basic survival. Many skin diseases of the foot have become common occurrences among these children. In fact, three of four children lacks proper footwear, many lack ANY footwear.
This is the single biggest reason Adidas has “stepped up” to provide these children with what can be life-changing, if not life-saving … shoes to ensure their basic life necessities are addressed in a timely manner.
BHHF often struggles to find donators who can provide the type of assistance Adidas has not only committed to, but has organizationally moved to the forefront of its corporate awareness thereby demonstrating their recognition of the importance of their pledge to these very vulnerable refugee children.
Thank you ADIDAS for your support, kindness and corporate integrity by showing the world your humanitarian spirit and focus on children who are most in need.
